Easily Learn Graffiti

Learning graffiti is augmented light and good with friends.

Graffiti is a kind of painting mainly associated with outdoor urban areas. Graffiti artists usually use cans of spray paint to cover public surfaces with imagery and writing. Usually, graffiti is illegal and looked at with disrespect by many, but many others consider it a legitimate art form. Just like any other art form, it takes learning and practice. There are a number of ways to make learning graffiti easier and more fun.

Instructions

1. Find a teacher. Try to find a local graffiti expert, someone with a reputation for creating excellent graffiti. Find a good book or website and go through it cover to cover. Do the exercises and try all the techniques. It might not be as fun as creating your own original work, but you will learn a lot, fast. Check out Resource 1 for a good electronic guide to graffiti techniques.

Copy work you like. Duplicate the inspiring work of others to the best of your ability. While this doesn't involve developing your original ideas, trying to copy the work of others will quickly develop your problem solving skills. As you try to create the visual effects of other graffiti artists, you will discover a range of techniques.

3. Learn to use stencils. This is one of the fastest ways to learn to make graffiti. This way you don't need to learn as much about handling paint, because with stencils paint only goes where you want it. Use multiple stencils with multiple paint colors on a single graffiti piece in order to get multicolored effects.

4. Read books and visit websites about graffiti techniques. There is no use wasting time and effort on trial and error when many techniques are already explained in books. Ask this person to give you lessons, show you techniques or at least give you feedback on your own graffiti. Learning from a teacher is one of the fastest and easiest ways to learn any skill.2.

5. Have fun. The easiest way to learn graffiti is to enjoy yourself while practicing. Make graffiti with friends in low-stress situations. Joke around while you are painting. Make images and tags that are enjoyable and make you happy. Don't take yourself, or your art, too seriously at first.
