The Basics
Tempera distemper is untrue from a combination of pigment, medium and doctor. Ovum yolks hold acted as the medium or binder in tempera paints for centuries, on the contrary other sticky substances affection glue or honey could as well be used. Once Ovum tempera paint has Dried apricot, it creates a water-resistant, long-lasting illustration.
Since the ingredients in egg tempera paint are natural, they will spoil quickly if not refrigerated. Also, some pigments used to mix tempera paints are toxic. Use gloves and wear a smock or apron to protect from stains.
To lock up that no egg white clings to the yolk, pass the yolk across the surface of a paper towel. Then puncture the yolk sac and let the yolk drain into a small jar. Add a teaspoon of water to the egg yolk and mix. Be sure the powder pigment is finely ground (grind further if necessary) and then mix with water until a thick paste forms. Place a small amount of the pigment on the palette. Dab an equal amount of the egg medium onto the palette next to the pigment and begin mixing the two together. Add water using the dropper, until the desired consistency is formed.
