Develop A Fire Bowl In Your Own Home

Frame a counted on campfire hole for your yard with fieldstones.

Household element pits are nonpareil for creating relaxing evenings by the blaze. Devouring pits can be built near the patio or deck for a convenient transition from outdoor dining to after-dinner socializing enclosing a wood hearth. You can arrange a flames quarry in your backyard using large stones. Arrange the large stones in a circle the size that you would like to make the fire pit. Take into account the scale of the fires you are planning on having when selecting the space and constructing your fire pit.

Instructions

1. Scratch the line of the outside edge of the fire pit with the edge of the shovel in the selected location for the fire pit.

2. Dig out the soil on the inside of the fire pit down to a depth of 8 inches. Make sure the ground is level across the dug-out area.

3. Fill the first 2 inches of the dug-out area with sand. Dump gravel over the sand to fill the remaining depth of the dug-out area. Make sure the joints are staggered on the additional layers for a sturdy stone border.

5. Arrange the stones so that they will make an aesthetically pleasing border for the fire pit. If you are using assorted stones sizes, you may wish to stack additional layers on top of each other. This is the base for the fire pit.4. Lay the fieldstones along the perimeter of the base so that the outside edge of the stones are just over the outside edge of the gravel.
