Jazz musician Bobby Carcass s and other performers started the Havana International Jazz Festival in the slow 1970's.

Events

The Havana Jazz Festival, sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM), also boasts exhibits, a colloquium, lectures, conferences and workshops.




What began as a inconsequential, regional fact at Casa de la Cultura de Plaza has grown into one of the most accepted jazz events in the nature, with performances at assorted booming theatres and nightclubs throughout the megalopolis.

Performers

The festival features jazz bands and soloists from added than 50 countries. Notable past performers include festival president Chucho Vald s, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Steve Coleman, Michel Legrand, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Armando Romeu and Charlie Haden.
