Individual Entertainment Grants or loans

The Grammy Foundation awards grants to individuals researching the effect of music on the "human condition." The grants range from $5,000 to $25,000 and cover a broad range of research topics within the musical field. You must mail a letter of inquiry to receive an application. The letter of inquiry should include information regarding your research.



Foundations and state granting agencies favor cooperate for artists in the entertainment industry. Grants are awarded to musicians, vocal performers, filmmakers, actors and anyone working behind the scenes. Receiving a fellowship or grant helps an artist in the entertainment industry realize a dream project without financial compromise.

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's Sloan Production Grant


Grants are available for filmmakers.


The Alfred P. Sloan Producers grant is awarded to a participant in the Film Independent Producers Lab. The grant is intended to fund films with themes in science and technology. The grant is worth $25,000 and includes admission to Film Independent's Producers Lab. Film Independent is a collective of filmmakers and leaders in the film industry that provides education and resources to young filmmakers. There is a $65 application fee to applicants who are not members of Film Independent; the fee is $45 for members.


The National Endowment for the Arts


The NEA gives individual grants to artists in the fields of jazz, opera and folk art. The Opera Honors grant is based on nominations and is usually given to a notable artist. The same goes for the Jazz Masters Fellowship. The NEA's National Heritage Fellowship is awarded once a year to an artist preserving cultural heritage through folk art.
