Design A Marketing Flyer

Apprentice chart a promotional flyer.

In today's competitive world, we all struggle to get noticed. For small businesses, and other organizations without widely recognized products or clout, advertising is a vital aspect of being successful. Flyers are probably the simplest way to alert the public to your existence as a business entity, or to promote an event such as a concert, charity ball, tournament or even a yard sale. Making a flyer that gets noticed is essential for this process to work. Avoid using fancy script fonts unless they are clear. The color of your type should be thick and be easily readable against the background paper. Black is great to use, but try to incorporate bold red or other suitable colors if possible to add emphasis to specific words.

Choose an attention-grabbing color for you flyer paper. White paper can be dull, and though widely available, will not capture the attention of many people. Vibrant colors such as bright yellow, pink, orange or cobalt blue are great choices to catch a passerby's attention.

2. Choose any images you can use to illustrate your concept or event to be promoted. Simple illustrations--nothing too busy or complicated--are ideal to convey the message quickly. Simple silhouettes are perfect to illustrate a concept, such as a dancing silhouette for a dance events, or large musical notes for musical concerts. If you're trying to promote a computer business, then a clip art-style image of a computer will work well.

3. Use type that is clearly readable. Incorporating a few art techniques, you can create a good promotional flyer that will get noticed.

Instructions

1. Words or phrases such as the event title, "Free," price, discount and dates and times of events should be larger than the surrounding type and in bold colors.
