Other Ways To Boost Cash With The Humanities

Craft can be used to uplift way for nonprofits.

Nonprofit groups and organizations that assignment for social spending money are constantly seeking original and competent ways to raise funds. Using art to raise money is one way to accomplish this and is particularly appropriate for organizations dedicated to the arts. One method is to sell art that has been created by those who will be benefited by the organization.

Animal Art Auction

A small percentage of them go on to become full time artists as adults. Children can be encouraged to continue their artistic efforts when they receive positive feedback from adults. A children's art show in which the works are taken seriously by adults and sold to raise funds for organizations that promote art and culture can serve both to motivate children and to pay for their materials and venues. Animal art could be auctioned most appropriately to benefit animal welfare organizations, humane societies and groups working to preserve habitat and wild lands.

Children's Art Show

Many children enjoy making art.In 2008, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums expanded the definition of what art is by holding an auction of paintings made by animals. While there is some disagreement regarding how intentional animal art is, millions of people are fascinated with its implications. Art made by animals is abstract to human eyes and stimulates speculations about the motivations of the animal. Local galleries may be willing to donate space at no charge for a charitable show that benefits children's arts organizations.

Participatory Art Events

Stimulating and motivating the dormant artist that exists in every person is a worthwhile goal and can be done in a context that also raises funds. An evening event that promises the chance to make art as well as to look at it can create a lot of enthusiasm. These events can take the form of a class with a prominent painter, a "junk art" evening in which participants gather trash and unused items and make pieces of art out of them, or a cooperative project in which a number of people come together to create a single large work, either temporary or permanent. Participants can be charged to take part in the events, and some of the artwork can be subsequently sold or auctioned to raise money.

Performing Arts

The performing arts such as music, dance and drama can be used in any number of ways as tools for fundraising. The obvious way is to hold concerts and shows and charge people to see them. More creative events could include dance-a-thons in which participants get pledges of support; public music events involving mass instrument playing or famous musicians playing unfamiliar instruments; or improvisation nights where non-actors are given scenes or ideas and have to make them into skits.
